Trauma-Informed Expressive Art Therapy works with ‘Creative Sensory’ processes. It uniquely utilises all art forms (music, art, movement, story) in order to work on how emotions can move (and heal) through the brain and body. It’s most notably been brought forward by Dr. Cathy Malchiodi and her Trauma-Informed Expressive Arts Institute.

We’re going to be tracking our body’s sensations before and after all our Expressive Arts Activities. This short video explains how you make your first Body Map.
Do this before starting the Sensory Drawing Practice below.

The ‘Embodied Butterfly’ is an Expressive Arts practice that helps bring coherence and centring to your being by integrating drawing, movement, breath and the senses.
If you’re scattered, out of it or even just nervous this is excellent for grounding and helping you come into coherence.

This is an Embodied Drawing Practice to help centre you and bring coherence to your being.
Sensory Drawing is an Expressive Arts exercise that helps you connect to your body’s sensations and express them. By learning to express your body’s sensations through your hands we build the capacity to change and release tension and distress.
