The next Magic Animal was the Snail. This little amazing creature taught everyone a lot of great health benefits. A new week came, and in the morning Peter saw in the center of his room a small snail with a shell and funny horns.
“Who are you?” asked Peter surprised.
“Hello, Peter! I am a Snail. Don’t worry about how small I am. The Children’s Health Guides sent me to teach you; firstly, about the ability to crawl very slowly sliding on your stomach. Secondly, how to build your own house with different colours. And thirdly, the importance of being able to stand up for yourself! And I can also show you how to engage your senses, because my horns not only scare away enemies, but they are also my eyes.” Said the Snail.
“How can you, someone so small, teach me all this? And why do I need to be able to crawl slowly on my stomach?” Peter asked curiously.
“As you sing my song with me you will understand everything – the Snail answered mysteriously. You will understand that even the smallest creatures can also stand up for themselves! You will also understand that in the world there are not only fast processes, but also very slow ones. And it is I who can best show you these slower movements. I invite you to find films about me and other snails on the internet. Find out what I eat, and even draw pictures of me and my diverse relatives. Always enjoy drawing me, learning for yourself and sharing what you learn with your parents.”
The Snail song sounded.

Just then – Viola, the daughter of music arrived to offer another gift. “Today we will perform the third magic of music – The Magic of Harmony. What is harmony you may wonder? Let me explain, a melody is when one voice sings or one instrument plays. And harmony is when several voices or sounds play at the same time. But they don’t just play random notes together, they create beautiful harmonies. For example, if you put your hands on a piano and push lots of keys at once, it might sound very ugly. It will not be harmonious, but more like noise. But if you immediately press on the notes DO, MI and SOL, then a beautifully cheerful major triad will sound. Triads can be in a cheerful major or a sad minor.”
Then the Snail played a major, and then a minor triad on the piano.
“Songs can also be in a cheerful major or a sad minor. Listen to my song again. Can you determine whether it is in major or minor? Listen and see if you can notice the harmony and the you’ll hear the sound of my bell.”
The song of the Snail sounded again. Peter listened attentively and said,
“It seems that it’s a minor song!” shouted Peter
“Correct!” The Snail exclaimed joyfully to the resonant sound of the bell. It was Viola who congratulated Peter with the third magic of music – The Magic of Harmony.
As soon as the Snail disappeared, Peter himself magically transformed into a snail. Attaching a backpack with small weights to his back, he slowly crawled on his stomach on the floor, moving his eyes in different directions like horns. He slowly inhaled through his nose, trying to catch the smells in the room. When his parents returned from work, Peter asked them curiously,
“What do you feel are the very slow processes in life?”
Then he offered to play the game “Snail” with his parents. It was a simple but fun game. Each player is blindfolded and puts a cap on his head, upon which horns are fixed. Then you each lie on the floor, and slowly crawl forward until the horns come in contact with an object. And then you had to successfully guess what the object was. It was fun and silly and Peter loved dragging his parents into it.
After that, Peter drew a picture of the snail and made a small house for it. His Parents loved this little house! And it also seemed that Peter’s drawings were improving.
Peter’s home now had an active family fitness centre which had been filled with one more drawing and new costume – the Snail costume. It included a huge shell, to which was attached a large head with long plastic horns sticking out, and a plastic rug for crawling.
